Why We Do What We Do - Tips, Tech, Tricks.
Why on Earth would anyone spend countless hours, late at night, and sometimes all day long, blogging away?
That's a good question, and one I ask myself quite frequently!
The answer seems to lie hidden in the deep recesses of the subconcious, down among the things we do based on pure, unmonitored, emotion. Specifically an emotion called Gratification!
For me, providing much-needed information to individuals who are struggling through a phase I was experiencing not too long ago is a very satisfying feeling!
Starting a Business Online.
(It's not all it's cracked up to be!)
For one thing, entering the arena, especially if you have no prior marketing experience, is the equivalent of being tossed headlong into the Aligator Pit!
The Hungry Aligator pit!
There must be, literally, millions of "work at home" and "make money online" pages on the internet! The figures are Staggering! No one seems to know how many websites there are on the Internet, but I have seen estimates of anything from 8-25 Billion!
Of course a small percentage of these are devoted to marketing programs, but the number is still greater than anyone could investigate in their lifetime!
I have spent over 2,000 hours on the net this year alone as of 8/16/08, and haven't even seen a small percentage of all the marketing sites on the web!
Tips, Tech, and Tricks.
After 4 months of online research and experimentation, countless hours of Social Interaction, Hundreds of dollars, and relentless searching, I became aware that there were few places you could go and just get great information for free! Oh there were hundreds of people like myself who were searching for free information, but they couldn't tell me much either!
Most of the people on the web who have the information you need are selling it!
And that's OK! Why not? After all, I was on the web looking to make a little income myself! the trouble is, the only way to learn if the information would help me, was to make the purchase. Then, most of the time it wouldn't be helpful at all!
For instance: There are uncounted affiliate programs available where all you do is advertise a product someone else has created, and when a sale is made, you get a share in the revenue from the sale. Sounds great right? My problem was, after investing time and effort into several programs, I began to realize that wasn't really what I wanted to do, so it was back to square one!
About this time, I realized I really liked to blog! Thus my Tech Blog was born. Here, I could do two things. Satisfy my creative urge to create, and maybe make the 'Net a better place for others who are struggling to create additional income by giving away the information they were looking for!
Sure, I have Banners and Links all over my site, I am still on the web to create more 'additional income', and yes, occasionally I offer something for sale, but the content and information is always there!
So, If you like to write, share, storytell a little, and just generally 'think out loud', Then starting a Tech Blog might just be the thing for you! Give it a try, there are several good blogging programs out there. I prefer Wordpress, but Blogger is a very 'beginner-friendly' platform also!
I would reccomend you start with a free program hosted on their servers, but as you progress, you will eventually want to aqquire a hosting service, your own domain name, and some blogging software of your own. All of these are relatively inexpensive. I personally have an account with LCW which runs $2.99 a month for hosting. The service is very good, and Bill Brown, the co-owner, is very accessible. (If you have Skype chat service, you can talk with him directly, his username is 'bjantiques')
So there you have it! :-) Blogging is about sharing, and that wonderful feeling of having helped someone else in their struggle!
